Printing, Naming and Moving SANTA files

Printing in SANTA

The graphs and reports are set to correct sizes for A4 printing.

As a general computing rule it is always a good idea to preview your printout before sending it to the printer. (Select  Print > Preview ).  You may, for example, want to change the orientation of the paper from Portrait to Landscape. If you want to print out the main data sheet you should preview before printing to avoid printing any unwanted areas of the sheet.

This can be done from the Print Preview screen.

 Select Print > Preview

 Select Setup

NB it is essential for previewing reports and graphs that the pc you are using has an active printer driver, even if you do not intend to print the report or graph. Your school technician will be able to help you install a printer driver if you do not have one.

SANTA File naming conventions

If you wish to rename a saved SANTA data file it is important that the prefix to the file and the .sae remain unchanged.

The prefix allows the program to identify which SATs paper the file is associated with. E.g. the prefix MY2_2006L2 _ is for Maths, Year 2, 2006, Level 2.  Any changes to this prefix will mean that you are no longer able to access the file from within the program.

As long as you do not change anything before the final underscore you can call the file anything you like within usual file naming rules.

NB When you use the paper selector to open a file you will not normally see the prefix but it is in use.

You do not need to run the program to rename files

1.       Navigate to the file you wish to rename.

2.       Select the file and use right click and Rename

3.       Rename the file and then press Enter.
