Issues that can occur whilst making the KS1 or KS2 data returns for Local Authority or the NAA
Below are listed the main issues that can occur when attempting to make the XML files for returning Key Stage data to the LA or NAA
If after clicking on the required Output file you get a message - Errors occurred during processing! -firstly click OK then check the Processing Summary by clicking View Summary in Notepad.
Error: Incomplete KS2 data
This error usually means that the KS 2 Wizard has not been used. This is essential for the data return as it allows you to confirm the data for the Attainment Targets for Maths for KS2 and for Science for KS2 and KS1 files.
Load the appropriate KS Wizard from the File menu – Key Stage Data and confirm or adjust the suggested levels for Maths and/or Science as necessary. Do this until the message box in the Wizard reports that 'All required data is present in the file'. Save and close the Wizard and then remake the data return.
Pupil 1: XX
Error: Field: UPN - Value missing
Error: Field: DOB - Value missing
Error: Field: Gender – Value missing
Error(s) occurred while processing this pupil!
This error requires that the missing contextual data for the child or children indicated be added to the file, usually the easiest way to do this at this stage is using the Pupil Wizard from the File menu. The error log will highlight that errors have occurred whilst processing for all of the other children in the file also, but these children will be OK once the actual missing data for one or more children has been added. All children must have a UPN, Surname, Forename, Date of Birth and Gender code. When data has been added Save the file then remake the data return
An unexpected error has occurred (50004-LA / DfES missing. Please update the Primary file information)
This error means that the file is missing the Local Authority and school's DfE numbers. Correct this by entering the information in File – File Info / Data Location. Save the file then remake the data return.
