We provide a template to be imported into most of the School Management Systems that our customers use.
If, however, your management system is not one of those listed in the Support - Downloads section of the Target Tracker website then we ask that you use these instructions to extract the data needed to produce Target Tracker files.
It is necessary to extract data for the whole school from your school management system into an Excel spreadsheet with the column headings as follows, and in the same order. Our Primary Data Converter and our Early Years product will then treat this information as if it has come from SIMS.net, our most popular SMS, and will convert it into Target Tracker files.
Please type the column headings exactly as follows into Row 1 of your Excel spreadsheet, starting in column A with UPN.
UPN
Surname
Forename
DOB
Gender
DOA
Eligible for free meals
Mother tongue code
Ethnicity
SEN Status code
Reg
Year
Postcode
In LEA Care
Gifted
Possible
Authorised absences
Unauthorised absences
Please add the data for the whole school into this one spreadsheet. The software will break the information down into year groups for you.
It is not necessary to have all of this data but you must have data in the Surname, Forename, Date of Birth, Date of Admission and Gender columns.
DOB and DOA should be in the format of dd/mm/yyyy
Free school meals should be entered as T or F, SEN Status code is S, P or A for Statement, School Action + or School Action
Reg is the class information e.g. Red class, and Year is Y1, Y2 etc.
Possible is the number of sessions so far this academic year
The resultant Excel spreadsheet can now be converted into Target Tracker files. Please use the Support Articles - Making Primary Target Tracker files using data from a School Management System or Making Early Years Foundation Stage Target Tracker files using data from a School Management System for help with these processes.
If you are about to go on a Starter Course, you will need to take this file with you. Protect the data in line with your school's or Local Authorities data protection policy.
It will be converted to Target Tracker files on the course.
The Target Tracker helpline are available to help if you have any difficulties producing this data, please call us between 9.00 and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday on 01245 213141.
