Useful data to produce from Early Years Foundation Stage Target Tracker ahead of an OFSTED inspection
This Support Article shows some of the reports and charts, that you may find it useful to prepare, to show data for cohorts and also for specific groups of children that may be an issue in your school.

For current Reception and Yr1 cohorts assessed in the EYFSTT software during their Reception year

Early Years Foundation Stage Target Tracker Charts

Subject Point Score chart – bar graph & spider graph

Both charts display the average raw scores for the current period (this will be Summer 2 if looking at data for pupils older than Reception) in each subject.

It is a useful way of seeing the balance across the curriculum and can help identify areas of strength and weakness. The bar chart option lends itself better to viewing multiple data series which are quite similar (for example average of boys and average of girls) and the spider chart works better when viewing multiple time periods.

These charts can be run with multiple year groups perhaps to compare the results of last year's reception with the current group at the same point in the year. Choose the year groups that you have data in the file for, from the Pupil Selection page

Progress chart

This chart displays the average raw score for all pupils, in the group chosen, in all subjects in each half-term from the start to end period as a line chart.

It is a good overview of progress throughout the year and can indicate that some more detailed analysis of progress in individual assessment scales is required when the average progress across a term is below one point. This chart can be run with multiple year groups perhaps to compare the results of last years' reception with the current group at the same point in the year.

Early Years Foundation Stage Target Tracker Reports

EYFSP Entry Level Assessment

Shows the Entry Level Assessment for each pupil in each area, and an average level for each child. Also gives an average level for each area of learning. Entry Level Assessment is defined as the assessment at the end of the first half term in the year in which the children join Reception, i.e. the year in which they become 5 years old.

EYFSP Attainment

Shows an overview, in raw scores for the 13 areas of the FSP. Click on a score and hover the mouse over a number to see the actual statements that have been achieved.

The Entry Level Assessment and the Attainment reports are particularly useful to show the average level of achievement at the beginning and end of Reception for each area of learning.

T he Pupil Filters option, from any of the EYFSTT reports, enables reports to be run comparing various groups of children e.g. boys compared to girls, EAL compared to non EAL etc. - or use the Custom Filter to set up your own groups to compare e.g. Autumn Birth term compared to Non Autumn Birth term

Key Questions report

The Key Questions report from EYFSTT is particularly useful for Yr1 cohorts as it pulls together, in one report, all of the most useful statistics for the children's achievements when in their reception year.

It provides key statistics which may support the writing of the school SEF, help with Ofsted inspections and SIP visits or simply provide an overview of the attainment and achievement within the EYFS Profile

Examples of the type of information included –

16 pupils (67%) have attained 6 or more points in all 4 Communication, Language and Literacy , all 3 Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy and all 3 Personal, Social and Emotional assessment scales.

23 pupils (96%) have achieved 78 points or more in total. The national figure for the end of 2007 was 71%.
The strongest assessment scale is
Language for communication and thinking with an average score of 8.4 and the weakest is Emotional development with an average score of 6.6.

It can also be run for current Reception cohorts and will reflect the most up to date data in the file.

The report can also be run for a filtered group of children although the mobility statements will always show results for the cohort.
