When a child is kept back in Reception or in Nursery for an extra year it is possible to tell the software to record assessments so that they appear in the appropriate Reception or Nursery columns. If this process is not followed all assessments for a Yr 1 child will appear in the Reception Summer column so term on term progress will not be recorded. All assessments for a Reception child kept back in Nursery will appear in the Reception columns when you would possibly want them to be in the Nursery columns.

The following instructions apply to a Year 1 child being kept back in Reception, but the same process should be followed for a Reception child being kept back in Nursery.

Load the file containing the child / children into EYFSTT

Select Year 1 from the Year Group section on the Home Page

Click the Admin tab

Click Pupil Manager and the child / children should appear on screen

Select the child and click Edit Pupil

From the Pupil Details box look for the Year Group Modifier field

Click the drop down list and select -1

Save and close the Pupil Detail box

The child will instantly disappear from the Pupil Manager screen

This is because the software has removed them from the Year 1 children and added them to the Reception children where they can be assessed in the same way as the rest of the Reception cohort 

Exit the Admin area and click to choose Reception from the Year Group section of the Home page

Click Contextual to see the child has been added keeping the same date of birth but -1 has been added to the YGM column
