When creating stored groups of children for analysis, a powerful way to find the children for each group is to use sorting, selecting and filtering then saving the children this process identifies as a Stored Group. These stored groups can then be used in graphs or reports.
The process can be adapted to identify children fitting whatever criteria are an issue for your school, but we will focus on two examples below.
Information about the average progress of pupils in up to 2 stored groups at a time can be displayed in a Progress Graph. Use the Support Article – Using the Graph Wizard in Primary Target Tracker for help with this aspect once you have created the Stored Groups that you want to compare.
· Load file into Primary Target Tracker
· From the Sort menu choose to sort file by Entry Date
· From column 4 of the tracking data sheet Select the Date of Entry of all children who joined the school in the Reception year for the cohort loaded.
. Do this by clicking on the top date and dragging the mouse down over the DOE's to select them.
· Then click on the Filter menu and Pupil Filters –Selected Pupils
· When pupils are filtered onto the screen, click on the Filter menu and click on Filter Wizard.
· The selected pupils will be in the Selected Pupils box, click to Save As New Stored Group
· Enter a name for the group e.g. Core Group, click Store, then click OK
· Next click on the Toggle Selected button to swap the core group of pupils with the rest of the cohort
· Repeat the Save As New Stored Group process calling this group e.g. Later Starters
· Load file into Primary Target Tracker
· From the Sort menu choose to sort file by Gender
· From column 4 of the tracking data sheet Select the Males
· Then click on the Filter menu and Pupil Filters –Selected Pupils
· From the Sort menu choose to sort the boys by Inclusion
· From column 3 of the tracking data sheet Select the boys who have an Inclusion code
· Then click on the Filter menu and Pupil Filters –Selected Pupils
· When pupils are filtered on screen, click on the Filter menu and click on Filter Wizard.
· The selected pupils will be in the Selected Pupils box, click to Save As New Stored Group
· Enter a name for the group e.g. SEN Boys, click Store, then click OK
· Click Cancel to close the Filter Wizard
· From the Filter menu choose Pupil Filters- Gender – Males. This will bring back the non SEN boys and they will appear on the tracking data sheet underneath the SEN boys
· Select the non SEN boys then click on the Filter menu and Pupil Filters –Selected Pupils
· When pupils are filtered on screen, click on the Filter menu and click on Filter Wizard.
· The selected pupils will be in the Selected Pupils box, click to Save As New Stored Group
· Enter a name for the group e.g. Non SEN Boys, click Store, then click OK
Other suggestions for useful Stored Groups are EAL children, Vulnerable children, particular ethnic groups, Literacy support group, Numeracy support group, Gifted and Talented group, summer born children, statemented children
