Creating a file from Primary Target Tracker to update the school management system

It is possible to create a ctf (XML) file which can be used to update school Management Information Systems.

It is necessary to set up the MIS correctly to receive the data. Target Tracker does not support this aspect of the process. Please use your MIS support for assistance with this part of the process.

However, if your MIS is SIMS.net we can tell you that in order to import Key Stage data it is necessary to import the 'Key Stage Wizards'. This process creates 'Aspects' or columns in SIMS Assessment Manager so that the imported data knows where to go. If SIMS schools want to import any other assessment data they will need to create their own 'Aspects' in SIMS Assessment Manager. If you are unsure please use your SIMS support for assistance.

To create the ctf from Primary Target Tracker.

Make sure your own school's LA/DfE numbers are entered into the File Information area of your Primary Target Tracker file.

To do this load the file into PTT and go to File – File Info / Data Location and enter your school numbers if necessary.

**The file must now be saved before attempting to create the CTF**

Next click on File – Output Files – Create MIS file

The XML Processor will load and will create a file.

You will be given the option of saving the file to another location, if required click Yes, if not click No. The file is saved by default to C:\Program Files\TT\XML\Data

Click OK to message indicating Processing Completed Successfully then click Exit to close the XML Processor

The file can then be imported into your school MIS as you would import any other CTF. Do not rename the file.

Important

Please ensure that if you are creating the ctf with a view to importing end of Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 results into your MIS you must have used the Key Stage Wizard in PTT to validate the Science AT's, at KS1 and the Maths and Science AT's at KS2, before you create the ctf. If you don't do this you will only have a partial set of data in the ctf.

To make sure you have a full set of data access either the Key Stage1 or the Key Stage 2 Wizard from the File menu in PTT and either confirm or adjust the AT's for Science and Maths as required, save the Wizard when closing.
