It is good practice to regularly review each child's end of year target and adjust them as necessary. This is especially important for the end of KS2 targets. This process can be done for individual children using the option Set Individual Target from the Target Setting menu or for multiple children simultaneously, using the Pupil Led Target Setting toolkit.
Columns, in the tracking data sheet of Primary Target Tracker, that contain targets are coloured pale green, with cells containing targets that have already been achieved highlighted in yellow. These targets are calculated from previous teacher assessment values.
For KS2 children targets are, by default, set from their end of KS1 Teacher Assessment. For children in KS1, targets are set from their end of Reception assessment.
Although assessment values may be typed directly into the test or TA columns of the tracking data sheet, the green target column values can not be over typed. This is to avoid accidental changes to targets. Follow the procedure below to change targets for multiple children. Use the Support Article - Changing end of year targets in Primary Target Tracker, if only wanting to change a target for an individual child.
To adjust targets for multiple children
From the Target Setting menu (Select the Tools tab if you are running Office 2007) choose Pupil Led Target Setting
The Setup screen loads -
Subject- Choose the Subject
Display targets for - Choose the year
To view the Teacher Assessment history for a child right mouse click on their current target. Using this information decide if the target for the end of the current year should be raised or lowered.
To adjust targets click on the child, or hold down the ctrl key to select multiple children, and then click on the left or right arrows Lower / Raise Target(s) to move the targets down or up. When finished click to Confirm Targets 'for adjusted bold targets'.
To return to PTT click on the Tracking Data button at the top of the screen. The adjusted targets will appear in bold text in the target column.
The 2 Restore buttons allow targets to be restored to the original calculated targets for one pupil or for all pupils
